Ceramacist & Sculptor
Having had a long and varied career in Management Training and Development, Jayne made a life changing decision to fulfil a long held ambition and to concentrate more on her art. Graduating in 2015 with a Fine Art (BA) Hons degree she went on to study MA Ceramics at the University for the Creative Arts. After completing a further 3 years of ceramic research and practice Jayne started up her own business, The Studio At Clapham Ltd. Jayne also Lectured in Ceramics at Greater Brighton MET College.
Sadly due to the financial impact of the Covid Pandemic, Jayne had little option but to close the Studio at Clapham and move her practice to Norfolk.
…. but with new surroundings comes hope and inspiration.
“Currently I have very little space to work in and only a small kiln to fire with, as a result I have been forced to put my Sculpting on hold and consider how I might best use all my artisitic skills and experience. So there’s been lots of experimenting with surface colour and illustration recently. Meanwhile building of a new and bigger studio begins in May. I hope to be up, running and welcoming students by the Autumn”
Jayne uses a combination of ceramic techniques – throwing and altering, coiling, pinching, folding, and slab building to make her pieces and uses a variety of decoration techniques such as printing, mono-printing and slip trailing to decorate the surface.
